Folks,
As you know we have made some new and exciting changes to the site. Many of
these changes are in preparation with the expectation that other RHS classes
will join and so we are getting ready. The most important change, one which we
discussed for some time, was to change the name to elkers.com! Since this
change last week we have received some emails asking if the site has gone away
or how to get back on and those who can read this message realize that the new
and proper URL (universal resource locater, aka website address) is
.
Please do us a favor and let everyone know what this new address is, which is
quite easy to remember!
Also please check out all the stuff on the site and report back if you find any
dead links or things that need updated or modified. We would also like to make
any and all suggested improvements to the site and look to you the audience for
assistance with providing many of the ideas and creative. This is a
community and therefore requires assistance from our cyber neighbors!
Lastly regarding the growth of the site, we have been approached by other
classes to join the site and have supplied them a proper response to outline
what it would take to get started and maintain a site for their class (you can
view the proposal on the main elkers site or click on the
site ad). While we
await the response, some have responded expecting the site build and maintenance
to be less expensive and therefore passed on the offer, which is fine. Just to
keep it all in perspective though there are annual maintenance and support costs
along with dedication of personal time associated with a project such as this.
And keep in mind the more that join the lower the cost per class and user would
be. So it is our hope that they will realize the fun and value this forum
can provide and sign on. So do your part in support of this site and please
spread the word so we can get more fellow Elkers on the site!
Sincerely,
Larry and Marty Glantz
